Don’t forget that artisans come in the food making variety, too! We will have two different food artisans participating in the Artisans’ Market.
All Good Bakers will be at the Market both Friday and Saturday. All Good has begun Albany’s first Community Supported Bakery! Baking only with locally milled, organic flours (and with locally grown wheat when they can get it), their creations are both scrumptious and good for you (well, as good as yummy baked goods can be!). They partner with a roster of local businesses for many of their other ingredients. Visit them online (http://allgoodbakers.weebly.com/) today to learn more about becoming a shareholder. Become a fan on Facebook for updates and giveaways! The pear scone they made a couple weeks ago was beyond delicious! (They have two Rustic Chocolate Pecan Tarts (pictured above) in the WB auction. You’ll get a fresh one, of course!)
Katlin Thomas is a local baker who makes items that are a delight for the eyes and taste buds, like the cookie wreaths she will have at the Market. Be sure to stop by and get something for yourself and others! They would make your party memorable!
Three talented jewelry artists will be at The Artisans’ Market this weekend!
Alexandria Speller makes fun, funky, contemporary jewelry from buttons, bottlecaps, and polymer clay. Looking for something hip or unusual? Look no further! Check out this funky jewelry set in the auction that has been “upcycled” from recycled bottle caps and polymer clay. The exclamation points and question marks glow in the dark!
Rachelle Smith-Stallman runs “Eardoodles by Rachelle”. She creates one-of-a-kind handmade earrings, from funky to elegant. All her work uses gems, stones, and silver. She has a lovely pair of eardoodles in the WB Auction. Featuring beautiful white foiled beads with dark blue crystals, sterling silver beads and sterling silver earring wires, they are sure to make you shine.
Donna Ford heads up “Decorate Yourself”, which offers beaded earrings that are handmade, unique, colorful, and bold, just right to “decorate yourself!” Visit her online shop at www.donnaford.etsy.com.
MOSS and Exalt Tees will be participating in the Artisans’ Market this weekend! It will be a blend of the work of two sisters, including handmade clothing and accessories for children, as well as original handmade prints on clothing for all ages. One sister runs Exalt Tees and the other sister runs MOSS.
The artist behind Exalt Tees says this about her work “ExaltTees are clothing items designed and printed by one woman on one 3 color press and one sewing machine in one cozy home in northern NY with 3 children.” Definitely enticing! Check out that screenprinted walrus shirt shown above!
MOSS stands for “My Only SunShine”, the artist’s little one’s nickname. At MOSS you can find beautifully made outfits and accessories for kids, like the above pictured Christmas outfit.
Come check them out at The Artisans’ Market!
Looking for original, high quality items for kids? Come to the Artisans’ Market this weekend and take your pick from three fantastic artisans who specialize in items for kids! (Or better yet, shop from all 3!)
Jessica Ross runs Livvy Lou’s Boutique, the place for hair accessories for children. Need adorable bows, clips, flowers, hats, or headbands? Visit Livvy Lou’s! There you will find beautifully colored and carefully made handmade products for your little one. Be sure to stop by their booth at the Market!
Rabia runs Mr. Wise Guy, an adorable shop that sells handcrafted paper crafts, including flashcards (alphabet, beginning reader, language), invitations, calendars, coloring greeting cards, and personalized wall decor. Anything from the shop would be a great gift for kids, parents, or teachers!
Local artist Jennet Jones is the creative mind (and hands!) behind Feathered Nest Studio. Feathered Nest Studio features original stuffed animal kits and finished stuffed animals called “Stuffies”, play mats, super hero capes, fabric banners, and original illustrations, both on paper and fabric. Whether you want to spend some quality time with your child, grandchild, or niece/nephew and want to put a Stuffy together or if you want to jump right into play time with a finished Stuffy or cape or play mat, FNS has the perfect item for you.
Three other artisans who will be participating in the Artisans’ Market are Laura Goodnough Jones, Mary Fronk of God’s Love Photography, and Jenny McShan.
Laura Goodnough Jones does a variety of mixed media work, such as this beautiful handmade collage birdhouse (in the WB Auction!). Specializing in the artistic medium of beeswax, Laura creates beeswax collages wall art, beeswax collage Soul Chairs, beeswax collage Plant Pokes. She will also have lovely original holiday ornaments, Found Poetry Spools (beyond awesome!), and altered clothespins (which can be used for decoration or to close the top of a gift bag) for sale at the Market. Here work is too cool not to stop by and see— and buy!
“God’s Love Photography” features photographs by local photographer Mary Fronk, who is based in the Capital District and Adirondacks. Here work often focuses on the natural world and the inherent beauty found there, such as the above image being auctioned in the WB Auction. Her work will be available both matted or framed and comes in a variety of sizes, so there is sure to be something to fit your wall!
Troy-based artist Jenny McShan will also be at the Artisans’ Market. She will be presenting both the coin jewelry she makes and also sand art. The sand art is truly unique: she “paints” an inspirational word in sand and then surrounds it with other natural elements and different colored sand so the word pops out. You have to stop by in person to fully appreciate this lovely art form!
Looking for fine art? Want a present that makes people say “Oooh!” when they open it? Then come to the Artisans’ Market and stop by two of our talented artisans’ booths, Gargoyle Gallery and Juliana Rose Barbaro.
Jacqueline Smith is the talent behind Gargoyle Gallery and is known for her fine art, specifically landscapes and florals in oils and pastels. Smith has donated a Plein aire gold framed oil painting of a trail above Indian Ladder at Thatcher Park for the WB Auction and will have many gorgeous works for sale at the Market the first weekend of December.
Juliana Halitit runs “Juliana Rose Barbaro” and skillfully creates conceptual and representational oil paintings and original photography. Her paintings are filled with beautiful color and very striking. Visit her in person at the Artisans’ Market (of course!), online at her website, and also the online WB Auction where she donated an original watercolor. (Above image is a painting by Juliana Rose Barbaro; all rights reserved)
Come visit Theresa Hovish’s booth at the Artisans’ Market the first weekend of December to stock up on luscious handcrafted cold process soaps. All of Theresa Hovish’s soaps are made with a variety of high quality oils— no animal oils. She makes bars scented with such yummy things as Coconut, Green Tea, and Frank & Myrrh (pictured above). Besides smelling wonderful and being good for your skin, the soaps are a treat to look at, too! They would make perfect presents, stocking stuffers, or thank you gifts.
Theresa Hovish also generously donated three bars of her soaps to the WB Auction.
Another artisan participating in our Market is the very talented Jan Lincoln. She creates boxwood trees decorated with Christmas items, floral arrangements, and invitations made into keepsakes. Above is an example of a Holiday Decorated Boxwood Tree, made of fresh boxwood branches placed in oasis (foam) in the shape of a tree. The picture is an example of one made in a holiday mug and stands approximately 16” high and decorated with small ornaments, ribbons, silk flowers and holiday accents. It will stay green thru the holidays, and is perfect for small apartments, nursing homes, offices, etc.
Visit the WB online auction to bid on a fresh version of this item and also stop by Jan’s booth at the Artisans’ Market to buy your own beautiful holiday greens or keepsakes!
(Click the photo above to visit Jan’s Facebook page.)
There is no better place to put that buy handmade pledge into action than the upcoming Artisans’ Market!
We have a fantastic line-up of Artisans for the Women’s Building Artisans’ market on December 3 and 4th! Below is a list of artisans with links to their website, if they have one. Everything from bakers to photographers to kids’ stuff to penny rugs to holiday greenery to….
